Antique Silver Barrettes

Hi everyone!
Another day of sitting yesterday. Nothing drives me crazy than just sitting, so I made more barrettes. This time, I had some help dragging down some of my stash of favorite and fun jewelry components. Pretty soon I will be digging out my old rolodex of supplies!

I made another bird barrette but this time the metal barrette is well hidden with elements I use for backgrounds. This version is arranged a little differently and looks much better.

The geometric barrette turned out cool. All pieces are antique silver but each is a slightly different silver, adding more dimension to the layers.

My favorite one is the fish. The starfish and shell accent the larger fish, well. I think the barrette's are well balanced without being symmetrically static.

Antique Silver Large Hair Barrette

I have been temporarily sidelined from the quilting. Messed up my foot and can't stand for long periods of time to hand quilt. Taking a small break from the sewing, I decided to drag out some of my old jewelry stuff. Could have covered the barrette better, but some of my materials were a little out of reach and since this is for me, I didn't really mind the metal slightly showing.

Really had a good time dragging out the old stash. Once school vacation is over, I think I might throw together another one or two, when I have a little more spare time.

Wood Hazel

I was asked by a couple of blogger buddies I've know since my painting days, to post some pictures of Hazel. Thank you so much for your interest in our new puppy! You will see in her picture how honored she was to pose for you!

Losing Mabel was hard. She was a good dog and very sweet. Not long after her death, we couldn't take her absence any longer and searched for another beagle, When we found Hazel she was just about 7 weeks old. Now she's almost 8 months old and what a spunky little thing she is. Total opposite of Mabel, as black is to white (Mabel's main color was white and Hazel's main color is black :) ).

Hazel occasionally enjoys a good tail chasing and when she catches her tail, she'll drag herself across the room! She sleeps on her back and when it's chilly she will crawl all the way under the wood stove. Hazel actually thinks she's talking, when she greets the girls after school and knows exactly when each bus is due (unless of course she's passed out, under the stove).

We feel so lucky to have Hazel. She's smart, caring, stubborn and an instant member of the family. She;s our Hazelnut!

Natural Beauty!

Yesterday ended with a decent cover of snow. The snow eventually turned to an icy mix throughout the night. When I woke up this morning, I was surprised by two things; school had a two hour delay...

and THIS VIEW! Yesterday we woke up to frozen pipes. Image dealing with that before the morning java!!! This morning was quite different and greatly appreciated! Astounding that Mother Nature.

It's difficult to see but there is a beautiful fog over the swamp that catches the light.



And there's my youngest daughter enjoying the extra couple hours outside, before school.
