Mrs Cardinal

Love it when she comes to visit.

The birds haven't been around much, lately. Miss seeing them.

St Patrick's Day Soap, Curing

I know it seems a bit early but by the time this cures (6 weeks), it will be close to St Patrick's Day.

I made the little shamrocks with melt and pour soap and tiny little molds. Took quite a while to pour and collect the little things. I also sprinkled gold mica over the top.

Just Duckie!

This is my most recent lye soap pour. I created the little duckies by pouring soap into a mold I made with silicone (yep, those little guys are soap too!).

I am so excited to see the white, blue and green inside. Hoping I didn't over mix the colors before pouring into the loaf mold.

New Winter Craft

Along with knitting and art, I have been making soap! Started off years ago working with Melt and Pour soaps but always wanted to try making REAL soap, like the way they did it in olden days. However, lye really intimidated me because it's such a dangerous substance to work with. But, this month I conquered my fear!

Here are my first three soap pours. The yellow color is the soap's natural color, because of the Virgin Olive Oil I used. There are SO MANY soap recipes, I am sure eventually I will find one that doesn't created such a yellow base soap. For now, it makes a pretty two color blend.

The green and black soap scents are Green Irish, by Nature's Garden. The pink soap scent is Watermelon, also by Nature's Garden.
