Quilt Top Done.

And still waiting for the binding fabric for my last Trip Around The World quilt.

Since it's only a 9x9 square, I decided to go with the Log Cabin 7s pattern (All the upper corners make a 7).

Now, sandwich, quilt it and lastly, more binding!

Thank you for visiting. Please come back soon!

MARIO QUILT for Meredith!

Hi everyone!

Now it's my older daughter Meredith's turn for a quilt and she wants a Mario quilt! I found a Quilt Along online which inspired me, however I found other cross stitch patterns to follow. I am also cutting my squares slightly larger than Angela's recommended 1" to create a larger quilt (original finished quilt measures 54" x 72" and mine will be 81 x 108").

These 1.5" squares are the smallest cut pieces with which I have ever worked!!! Definitely a fun pattern. Have the rows finished in the pic, but still have to sew the rows together.

I will also finish this off in the QAYG manner; that final size is too big for me to sandwich on the floor and I really like quilting each block at a time, just about anywhere.

In the Quilt Along, Angela also has everyone use a "Stick 'N WashAway" which was A) unavailable in my local fab store and B) WAY too expensive online. I also think trying to align all the squares on something sticky sounds more difficult than simply aligning one edge to stitch.

Well, I guess I should admit that this isn't really following along with Angela's Quilt Along, but she definitely inspired me and is the reason why I chose to do this quilt opposed to the other Mario quilts I see when I google.

If you would like to see Angela's quilt, here's a link. Mario Quilt Along Project

For Mike

Hi everyone,

I write this with a heavy heart. I have been very close to my cousin all of my life and have always been amazed and impressed by her. In fact I idolized her when we were very little and still do very much today.

For a long time, her husband has been battling a kidney disease. A couple years ago, he was lucky to have a new kidney transplant. As with all transplants, nothing is a guarantee. Although the kidney has done well, the medications he took effected other parts, causing his body to slowly fail. Recently, he has taken a turn for the worse.

Ever since his recent hospital admission, (a month and a half ago) I started quilting this. After working on it every free minute (and even stealing time from other important things), I have had to send it out mostly but not completely finished. My cousin's husband is now heavily sedated to enable his body can work it's best but these days things are happening more quickly and I fear my vanity to finish this quilt was out-weighed by his failing health.

Here are some pics of the quilt. The lighting in the room was poor, but you can see the basic pattern of the blocks and quilting.

Please everyone keep my cousin and her husband in your hearts and prayers.

Thank you.

The stipple pattern was quilted on most of the blue blocks, but unfortunately the center blocks were not completed, as you can see in the picture above.

A Little More Needle Thread Painting on the Portrait!

Hello again!

Have had a little free time in the past couple days, so I thought I'd pull some thread through this portrait! Still need to finish the bib and work on some touches on the baby.

Hope to have this finished before the end of December and I am starting to feel the pressure. It's hopefully going to be seen in my month-long show in the Amherst library, in January.

COOPER Pet Portrait in Thread FINISHED!

Hello again!

Had some time to finish this piece. Took approximately 9 days to complete. Final size will be stretched on a 10x12 canvas frame.

I've included a picture of how interesting the backside looks!

Still Waiting For The Eyes

Hi again.

Thought I'd share the latest pictures of my commission vampire reborn doll, Violet.

Her eyes have been special ordered by the woman whom commissioned the doll. The eyes are really neat, with metallic accents and purple in color. I can't wait to see them. With the fangs, the missing eyes are very creepy but she's so cute!

She also purchased fabric for the doll's dress. I love the fabric. I will be sure to take pictures of the finished dress. For the past couple days, I've been fine-tuning a pattern, just for this doll.

Thank you for stopping by. Please come again.

Simplicity Pattern 5259 Faux Leather Pants!

Hello again!
I couldn't resist making these pants; Naugahyde! Only free range, responsibility harvested Naugas were used!

One pair is a brown and the other is a fun deep cordovan color! As with leather, these will darken with age.

Also picked up some fun flannel fabrics to make two more really cozy pants. Then that will be 9 pairs of pants. That's a far cry from my lacking wardrobe of last year...
Thank you for stopping by. Please come again.

FRESH BREAD

Hello again!
Still trying to learn recipes and incorporating a fresher, homemade diet that does not include any preservatives and trying to stay away from store-bought-style anything. Unrealistic I know, but the more I practice the better and easier it will be.

Have made a ton of pickles, relish, jelly and jams. Will be canning huge tomatoes from the garden when ready.

Also hoping to have some vegetable soups in cans, for days when there's no time to cook.

Here are some breads, freshly made today! Bread has been fun to learn and am eager to try more.

Beautiful Sunset Skyscapes

This beautiful sky's photograph was captured August 18th, while driving home from from my older daughter's birthday dinner, in Nashua. We couldn't believe how beautiful it was and how long it lasted.

This photograph was taken while we were also driving home from Nashua, last night.

We live in a small little (what my friend likes to call....) knoll, surrounded by tall pines. It's always a treat when we're out and about and see these great skyscapes from the road. I am so glad I finally have a good cellphone, I'd be kicking myself, otherwise.

These IPhones take such great pictures! I honestly wonder how much better the picture would really be if taken with a pro's camera and all sorts of filters? Mine almost look like I used filters and digital imaging to enhance, as it is!!! :D
