Polymer Clay Face Cousin

Hello again!
Here's a fun thing I just finished...

Cloth Doll Face]
Cloth Doll Face
Cloth Doll Face

I used to have these white overall shorts on which I would embroider anything. Finally, the only thing holding those overalls together was the embroidery, itself!

Over the years, I have revisited embroidery and thought it about time I do a little more. Love using an old craft and updating it with new ideas and applications. In this case, it's the sculpted cloth faces that is new. Around the face are many sized, colored and shaped beads which I hand embroidered. The bead design is scattered, giving it a really cool texture and it appears as if the bracelet was rolled in and collected beads, randomly.

Took many hours, so I am relieved I like the piece! LOL!

Thank you for stopping by. Please come again.

Springtime Flora IS FINISHED!!!

She's finished!

I designed a custom pattern for Flora's bodice and sewed it in fabric. Then one at a time, I sewed individual silk leaves and covered the fabric, completely.

I placed silk flowers in her hair, both sewn directly onto the head. I also made a fabric head cap, sewed flowers onto that and then attached the cap onto the head. The longer flowers are with the wire stems so I poked them straight into her head.

All over her bodice, skirt and shoes, I glued different sized white crystals to represent dewdrops. They glisten all sorts of pretty colors, just like tiny droplets of water.

I also gave Flora a pretty crystal necklace. She thinks she's just stunning with it around her neck.

She's for sale, but I am concerned about shipping! I would love it if someone local bought her, that way there would be no shipping and I can also visit her; I would miss Flora. She's got personality and I smile every time I see her. But, there's another doll in the works, as we speak!

Thank you for coming to see Springtime Flora! She's flattered by your interest.

Please visit these older posts to see her from pattern to her completion.

Finished Polymer Clay Barrette

Finished Polymer Clay Cane Barrette

Hi!
These are the finished barrettes, made from the face I posted a couple days ago.

My client wants to buy two; one small and one big. The large barrettes have rhinestones and the smaller barrettes do not. However, the white in the pink and white hair, on the smaller barrette, glows in the dark.

She likes the barrette with the black and white hair and purple rhinestones and the small one with the pink and white hair.

Thanks for staying tuned!

Polymer Face Cane

Face Cane, originally uploaded by CraftyPease.

Hi everyone!
Recently a very nice customer bought a couple pieces with cane faces from me and requested more! So yesterday and today I worked on building a new cane face. Hard to believe how many hours it takes to make a face, considering all the "resting" time.

I took this picture while the cane rests for one last time. Then I will be reducing it, cutting and embellishing with smaller canes, later on tonight.

Will post the finished pieces, tomorrow!

Thanks for looking!

HEY YOU!

Yes, YOU!

You know to whom it is I am talking. I hope you had fun with my debit card, the last couple days. Now the fun is over. The bank is onto you and regarding my money -- you are shut off. Not that it matters, you took every last dime.

Speaking of Dimes... you make me sick. I will get all my dimes, but the donations you made with my debit card to the March of Dimes will not be honored. I can't afford to honor your pledges and boy were you generous. Those poor children deserve real benefactors, not YOU!

But it was YOU that deserved the most, huh? Access AB, Wistee, PayPal, Craigslist, Garena....you really took care of yourself, didn't you? In fact, you worked hard treating yourself.

I work hard for that money. Hours, I work until I can barely see straight at night. I wake up with my eyes melting out of my head, but still, somehow, with a smile and happy attitude I get through the day. Thank you YOU for making it all worth it. Thank you for treating yourself and having it so good.

Ya know YOU, most women expect a dinner or at least a drink first.

Let us just hope I never get the chance to meet YOU. Jail time isn't good enough. Hard labor is. I have A TON of home improvements projects that are not finished. Oh boy, after YOU would they be!!!!!

Up Close

Up Close, originally uploaded by CraftyPease.

I like the 3D style head. I worked all day at making a decent head pattern that would match the size of the body. I think I have a decent shape. In time, the head will probably be refined.

Now, what to do for the hair? Bet tomorrow I'll have ideas.

She Sits!

Sitting is important and so are bendable limbs because I like posing the dolls for pictures.

More Progress on the Cloth Art Doll

She's 19 Inches, originally uploaded by CraftyPease.

She's coming along. Right now the doll is about 19", without the head. My goal was to have her at least 18" the doll clothes patterns I have are all for 18" dolls. Seems the arms and legs are a good fit, so far.

Cloth Art Doll In Parts

Cloth Doll Parts, originally uploaded by CraftyPease.

It's been a couple busy days but I finally had a little time last night and this morning to work on my doll pattern.

Here are the parts for the doll, sewn, stuffed and wired (so the arms can bend for fun poses). So far so good, although I think I will make the legs a little beefier when I cut the next pattern.

Next is to sew the parts together and start the head. I am going to try a more 3D head, so I may have to make a couple versions to get the proportions correct. I am eager to see what it will turn out like!

Thanks for following this doll's progress. Please stay tuned for more!

Handmade Cloth Art Doll Pattern

I really love making these cloth art dolls. Go figure!

There are so many wonderful doll patterns out there, but they all seem to be thinner than your average doll. This requires custom made clothes patterns. I decided that since I have a TON of doll clothes patterns, I should make a doll that could wear the same size clothes. So, here's the pattern.

For most of yesterday there was not much else I could do, so I worked on making this... (we lost power in the wee hours of the morning and was without until mid-day.) I measured my daughter's 18" dolls and marked a piece of paper at the top of the head, the inseam and the feet. I also drew a line the length of the doll's arm. Then I began to construct the outline of a chubby arm and leg, body and head.

Today I am sewing it up and seeing how proportionally off I am with all the pieces! LOL! Wish me luck!!!
