That Time Of Year

As we near the final days of the week, month, year, it is time to put away the Christmas Holiday ornaments...but not without taking a photo of them before they go back in the box for another year. It's easy to guess why this one's my favorite one! (Hint: My last name ☺️ )

Poor Princes...

This is Mount Battie, a beautiful observatory landmark in Maine. In the severest of cold temps in January, it's so wonderful to see a warm, sunny day in Maine.

White Christmas?

We didn't have a good one last year.

I wonder about this year... Seems there's a good chance. The forecast calls for a couple of snow chances.

I hope the holiday brings the perfect weather where you are!

My Etsy Shop!

I have reopened my Etsy Shop and listed some photos!

Here's one of the prints listed. Please visit My Etsy Shop <----By clicking here to arrive in CraftyPease's shop!

I hope to have really decent images made from some of my paintings. When I do, I will be listing some prints of my paintings, too! Maybe, eventually I will list some stained glass, but right now it's too cold in my studio (glass doesn't behave well when it's too cold).

STINK!

Yes, StInK! It's stink bug time and this year they are full force.

I've heard that this bug is fairly new to America. In the 1990s, it was said they were first found in Allentown, PA and they quickly spread from there. I had never seen a stink bug until I moved to New Hampshire in 2003 and was surprised they moved up north through Massachusetts, while I lived there.

I would LOVE to know how to get rid of them. They are one of the creepiest bugs (ticks being my number one creepiest). They can crawl in from the weirdest places.

Special Panel Finally Framed

Not loving the frame. It's for photos and I need a canvas frame, but to see one at this point one has to do what one has to do! LOL! ≤

I have several panels finished but not framed. When they are, I will share the pieces with the light shining through.

This panel was created to showcase a sand dollar given to be by a very good friend. She picked it up off the beach the last time she was visiting her place in FLA. I loved the way it turned out, so I found another sand dollar and made one as a Christmas gift for her (which I will share when framed 😆 ).

Pieces used in this 11x14" stained glass panel are; stained glass, sand dollar, shells, sea glass, and glass nuggets.

I also hope to create another to one day sell in my Etsy shop.

Nail Stamping

With Sharpie coloring!

I let the stamped image on the stamper dry and then I colored it using sharpies diluted with alcohol. After the colors dried, I applied a clear coat. Once all the layers dried again, I applied the image onto the nail like a decal!

Halloween Fun DIY Art Nails

Such a great time of year and this is a creative way to "nail" it (Oh, that was a bad pun).

DAISY (More Completed)

This Daisy panel has been taking a while to complete. Much has been going on this month, (including losing a person whom I was very close to and it's been hard).

I've cut the outer border, but still need to foil the pieces. Last pieces to score and break are for the thinner, inner border. It's been so long since I've soldered I but I am rusty! Looking forward to the soldering. Once I get in a groove, it's so fun to do.

Never Thought

Never thought that it could be so hard to send my first born daughter off to college. The past few days have been so painful. But at the same time, I am so grateful, thrilled and relieved she's ready for her next step and eager to get college started, but I AM NOT!

Her first 18 years have been wonderful and I am so proud of the woman she's become. She's studying a field which is quickly evolving and I know she'll be a successful producer when she graduates... (she's blown the socks off of us and of all her teachers and mentors, so far)!

Good Luck Charlie! You'll love every minute of college!!!!

DOING LAUNDRY

I have a lot of scraps and decided to experiment with the glass globs. Glass globs are so beautiful in stained glass pieces and have been something I've wanted to work with for a long time.

In the second picture the sun catcher's reflecting my pink shirt so much, it looks more like a Leslie catcher!!!!

The Cutting's Done On the Latest Stained Glass

And the grinding too! It's been 24 days but I've taken 3 days off for various reasons... so really 21 days.

Been working on the copper foiling but I ran out of the size copper foil I've been using for the pieces that are normal-sized thickness. After the foiling I will solder and patina the piece.

But as I wait for the new foil (local store isn't open on Mondays and I ran out on Sunday), I have been working on a new design of cardinals. Always looking forward! LOL!

Chipping Away

LOL! Get it? Chipping. OK, that was lame.

Seriously, I'm slowly working on my rooster design. Taking awhile because I've only been working with stained glass for a month, so some of these cuts were very tricky - ESPECIALLY the tail feathers. A lot of those curves break in the wrong places. I changed the pattern along the way and thankfully I have a new bandsaw that steps in before I waste a whole sheet of glass again, (cutting just one ImPoSSiBle piece).

I just love working with stained glass. It allows me to use my art and design background along with working with a new medium with will not grow old soon, like a lot of the crafts I've tried.

SUNNY TENNIS MORNING

I have to say that this project was cursed from the beginning...

The pieces didn't cut as well as the all clear glass version. I had to go and get more of the lighter yellow glass because I used up all mine with terrible cutting mistakes. The copper foil I used was too wide and (I think) horsey. And lastly, once done it IMMEDIATELY fell to the floor AND BROKE! 😡

I am keeping it so that one day, when an important piece breaks I can will have this project to practice removing and replacing the broken pieces. But, right now I am ready to move onto something new and different!

Catching The Sun

This is my third cut glass project but instead of taking a full sheet of glass and cutting it up and re-soldering together, I cut each piece from a separate piece of glass and fitted them into one piece.

Not a fast craft which is FINE with me. I am really enjoying the whole process.

Second Project Done!

I am teaching myself this craft and it's definitely a challenge!!!

The first two "stained glass" pieces are in plain clear 3mm glass I got from our local hardware store to learn how to cut the glass, foil and to solder the pieces back together - it's definitely a learning process!

(This looks like it's been covered with a coat of patina but not yet. The actual piece still has the silver solder color.)

Something New!!!

I have always been in love with stained glass art. During tennis districts last summer, my bestie picked out the best B&B for us to stay and it was FULL of stained glass. Before this month, I never considered I'd one day try it. Don't ask me how this craft's path suddenly became real to me... I have NO idea. One day I found myself in a stained glass shop buying supplies and getting very excited! 😃 Who would've ThUnKeD? Now it's a whole new world!

This is my first completed piece! Done in clear glass so that if I mess up I won't be to heartbroken. In this piece, I practiced cutting glass in a straight line, copper foiling and soldering.

End Of The Year Stress

I promise you, there is NO WAY I would want to go through high school these days. The amount of work put on these kids is amazing, but the end of the year is the most difficult. Along with final exams, my daughters both have major projects to complete.

My younger daughter is in the weeds with her final project; it's a cumulative notebook from the entire year (not to make it sound like little stuff, it's not and it's very stressful... but it's the same type of thing at the end of each year.) My poor little one has had so many hard obstacles to overcome throughout the year. Positive thoughts for her success.

My older daughter has done a lot of work on her senior project. It's a multi-dimensional type project and has had several mini presentations every few months. Now it's final presentation time, tomorrow! I am so excited for her and so very eager to see all of her hard work come together in the big presentation. Thinking caps on for the special gift for her mentor! She's so confident, she's actually enjoying working on the final details. I know I am going to be bursting with pride tomorrow. When I am alone, it's gonna be a 3 tissue box moment, I can't believe how quickly she's grown and how mature she's become!

Both my girls have had so many challenges thrown at them, throughout the years and I am so proud of the way they have overcome and conquered. I hope these last weeks of school go quickly (but I am sad my oldest is getting ready to leave the nest soon). On a happier note, older daughter was accepted to Bay State College in Boston, Ma. My bestie's son was accepted on Roger Williams University in Bristol, RI! That's especially special to me because I used to have TONS of fun visits there, many MANY moons ago.

Nice To Have My Girls Home!

Both my daughters took a nice Spring Break vacation out of the country, both in different directions.

My younger daughter traveled around London and Paris with her HS band, playing in several beautiful venues and sightseeing all the wonderful landmarks.

My older daughter traveled around Japan with her aunt. My older daughter TAUGHT HERSELF Japanese, several years ago, even changing her computer and phone operation system to Japanese and has been using them in Japanese ever since! She certainly impressed and the locals with her near perfect diction!!!!

As proud I am of them and their wonderful experiences, I am so happy to have them home. I missed them terribly and honestly I worried about my daughter off in Europe with the current terrorism (which thankfully stopped for the duration of her visit).

Finger Painting!

Iris Scott is a wonderful artist who is bringing finger painting to the adult level! I was recently introduced to her by my bestie and immediately wanted to try my own painting!

"Penelope" acrylic on 16x20 canvas

I enjoyed painting the first painting so much I had to do another one! This time I did use a brush for some of the smaller details. The image was a bit too small for my fingers. LOL!

More Bombshell Girls Glasses

Sssshhh! These are gonna be a surprise!

I am doing a bunch of caricature glasses of my tennis teammates/friends. I had 7 completed but 3 of them had something wonky wrong in the glass stem area, so I am starting over with those (once the paint is baked onto the glass I can't do much with mistakes. 😞 )

Sadly, these two peeps are moving away soon. So, I made sure they were painted first. I will miss them terribly!
