Saw these clouds on the way home.
In the second picture, you can see something coming out of the bottom of the big dark massive cloud. The whole way home, it would drop that little circular moving thing down, then suck it back up and then drop back down, just to suck it back up again! That was a big scary to witness!!!
And got home, just in time!!! You can hardly see the trees in the far background, the hail's so heavy.

Will really blow your mind!
Not sure if historic Amherst would let us do this for our driveway...

We saw rainbows at just about every turn!
Rainbows always remind me of one simple bit of advice... Never dwell, just appreciate things, love often and never take for granted the small or great.

This pattern is based on the Simply Blue pattern from the book, "Twenty to Make" by Val Pierce.
In the book, Val Pierce has the reader knit the "bootees" on straight needles and sew the seam up when it's done. Loved the pattern but I am a “no seam” kind of gal. So, I revised it to work on circular needles, casting on with the Magic Cast On method.
I also decided not to do the garter stitch across the toe. I like the look of the stockinette stitch…
I like scanning the pattern and printing out a copy. That way I can take notes and not worry about marking up a nice book!

For the Hope Chest!
Pattern is also from the old, vintage EMU pattern #8493. Yarn used is Bernat DK Softee and US 5 needles.

Love the yellow color of this yarn. The pattern is a nice one and I hope this sweater turns out as well as the blue!

The knitting I was doing in the last post really was turning out well, so I kept going and this is what I made. It's from an old vintage baby pattern from back in the 1940s.
Although it still needs buttons and the blue ribbon around the neckline, this is definitely one more item for the Hope Chest I am keeping for my future grandchildren.

This is called Feather and Fan. I thought I'd give it a try, with some scrap DK yarn and a US 5 needle. Followed part of a UK vintage baby sweater pattern I recently found. Believe it or not, their knitting terminology is a little different in England. The way they number their needle sizes is quite different, too.

Right off the knitting needles!
I can't believe how busy the month of May has been, starting with the first day! The end of the school year is always crazy, with all the events planned. But, in between it all, I finally finished this little set for my Hope Chest. I love the diaper cover (soaker). Never had one for my girls and wish I had.

Early this morning, it was a beautiful day as I worked in the gardens. As I drove to the club, the clouds started rolling in.
Really was incredible looking, so I took this picture of the farm next door, as I was pulling up Hampshire Hills' driveway. Great shot of the clouds, don't you think?
Turned out to be a nice day and I even had time in the gardens again, in the afternoon. All the other great days for gardening, I've been otherwise unavailable. Such a great day, today.
