Even though we won't be having a White Christmas, I LOVE weather. A really good rainstorm with solid gusts of wind ToTaLLy makes my day!
Merry Christmas!

Sadly, this is the first time in over 10 years, we have not have snow in our yard, for a white Christmas. Usually, we are under at least a foot of snow.

I must be getting "Long In The Tooth" because I don't seem to be able to keep up with all the shopping, holiday activities and celebrations! My eyes fade at 9:00 on the nights I am home.... Ah, youth is wasted on the young. :)

For an hour and a half this morning, my older daughter and I were Salvation Army bell ringers volunteers. Boy, did we give away a ton of wings!

After a long, long day, nothing is better than homemade comfort food!
Chicken cacciatore... made with chicken thighs and wings I had kicking around from the freezer. Last Thursday, when we lost power, I threw some frozen things in the fridge to help keep things cold in there. Wound up with some good defrosted yummies to cook up!!!

We were dumped on! Living next to the town's safety complex, we hardly ever lose power and when we do, it's restored in no time. This storm, we lost power for almost 6 1/2 hours (some people are still out and may not have power until sometime tomorrow). Had my doubts the generator would run the electric stove well enough. Went looking for one of those deep fryers to use outside, but stores were either closed or sold out (guess other people had the same idea)! I was greatly relieved when the lights came on in time to make Thanksgiving dinner. Although I would have been just fine to be celebrating tomorrow night.
NH was so hard hit, we had power crews from as far away as Canada and Illinois (Thank you to all that gave up their Thanksgivings for New Hampshire)! There were power trucks everywhere! Still many people's power will be out for another couple days.
Several limbs fell around the property, over the course of the night and into the morning. It was so cool hearing the branches cracking and dropping. Every few years, we have a good storm like this. I LOVE WEATHER!

Oh, what does a good sale on meat and the weekend's leftover Oberon Cabernet Sauvignon mean?
Just the best pot roast ever!
This is just before going into the oven for a couple hours. I don't mind telling you, it already smells great and I could dig in, right now.
Bon Appetit, tout le monde!

One of my tennis partners (and friend) is originally from Florida. She recently relocated to NH temporarily and loves the area. She asked for a moose painting because she LOVES them. I was so honored to have my art as one of her many souvenirs from her stay in NH (hopefully after her LONG stay).

Had some nice time to myself, today. Spent it doing laundry, food shopping and homemade oriental fried rice, with fried eggs, veggies and beef! Last night of the week that I cook and just had to do a fun and easy dinner.

This one is nice and quiet, hanging with my girls kind of weekend. I love the fact we do not have to "be somewhere" or "do something". I am so lucky that a weekend home, cozy and full of family stuff is still appealing to my girls.

I was listening to Ariana Grande's "Yours Truly" album while painting. "Some Things Are Better Left Unsaid" played and it seemed like a perfect title for this painting, too! (Speak No Evil...)

A couple turkeys decided to have breakfast at our house, this morning.
(Blurry because they were in the far back of the yard and I had to zoom thru a screened window... had to take the pics quickly and I am surprised I didn't get all mesh, instead!)
Caught them in the corner of my eye, as I walked by the kitchen window. I do not know how long they were hangin' out but I caught this photo as they were headed back thru the trees, along the swamp. Who knows? Wonder if maybe they visit most mornings and I am not home?

Wetcanvas has monthly project in their various forums. The project of the month in the Pen & Ink forum had many great reference photos and I picked the Macaw to reproduce in Pen.
I love Wetcanvas. I've been a member since December, 2002, posting in many different forums. Lately pen & ink and watercolor seem to be my haunts!
Wetcanvas encourages Guests, so please feel free to browse the various forums and see all the wonderful work from all the talented artists!

The clouds were amazing over the mountains (sort of blend in a bit, in this photo), with all the beautiful color in the foreground.
Took this next picture on the way home from dropping daughters off, at school. Feel so lucky to be in such a gorgeous state, especially this time of year.

I love new supplies!!!
Realizing that the repetitive motion of knitting is not agreeing with my tennis, or at least not lately. So taking a break from the needles (reluctantly, for I was working on a nice sweater with a gorgeous yarn color).
I am filling the empty minutes with drawing. Just got this nice watercolor pencil set and watercolor paper, and am so excited to try them out!!! (Way too tired last night to do more than fondle the pencils :D ).
Still hoping to knit when stuck in sitting areas, waiting rooms and the like. That sweater will be done, one day. And maybe that same "one day", I will be able to knit without effecting my elbow, like old times.

And then once there, the trees looks so beautiful!

Another Zentangle. It's a wonderful creative way of putting together patterns. In this piece, I'd say the Zentangle style is in the water, rocks at the bottom and in the lobster. Some pen-work ties in well (like the seawead), but maybe not quite Zentangle-like.
I did an experiment with watercolor on a black and white scanned copy of the original. It's a test to see, before I actually paint up the original illustration.

My ranking was boosted, this season and today was my first game playing as a new 3.5! My awesome partner and I WON!!! It was a hard fought game. :D !
Along the path to the indoor courts and back, I took pics of the awesome Wentworth By The Sea's club, the golf course and it's tennis courts. Wow, what a club and the foliage the seacoast is having right now is FaNTaStiC!
There was a Hole 19. Wondered if they serviced the outdoor courts, too?!!? But, I have to admit that with this club, it's all about the golf and the ocean view.
At the risk of sounding like a vacation review column, if you are a golfer and have the Game, this is the "Fall Foliage Romantic Getaway Club". With the hotel, I'd definitely recommend it for ANY AGED romantic. (Ah, to think, I went home...), THIS is the place to stay to see the fall colors, play some golf and tennis.
What a beautiful day, WHAT A BEAUTIFUL CLUB. Great partner. Good win. Fun ride home. Excellent eats when I got home.... Great Sunday.

Fun little project.
Zentangle is creating patterns and textures with pen and ink. Very relaxing form of art!

Early this morning...
Eating their breakfast, right next to the road. Boy, these guys really have no fear!!!
This pic is a little blurry because I had to snap the photo while slowly navigating around the turkeys (some were very close to the road), without a co-pilot. Hey, at least I didn't immediately text while driving! :D

And just in time for the chilly willy weather!
I based this cardigan on a red children's pullover, called "Red" from the book Cable Confidence. Been in a cardigan sweater mood, lately. So I looked for a cute sweater to turn into a cardigan. The XOXOs were so cute and I love bobbles. This sweater screamed to be made!

Brings out the fun things!
There were about 18 turkeys in the field. Really seem to be enjoying their breakfast!
It is usually early fall, when the wild flocks of turkeys become very active, walking around (anywhere in town). A couple times, we've had them in our yard. And to my surprise, a Turkey Hawk, a while back!!! Never hear about anyone hunting them. (Good! They are fun to see.)

Mandragora (common name; Mandrake)
Belonging to the nightshades family. The roots sometimes resemble human figures.
Look like frog's legs! (Oh no!!! Prince Charming!)
Now it looks like a scrawny chicken!
Mandrake ready for picking!!!
Hey, if the deer won't let me grow plants in the gardens, then maybe I'll just knit my own!
I knitted this using the I-cord, bobbles, and the Magic Loop method on circular needles. Since it was worked in the round, there were no seams to sew. The only hand-sewing was attaching branches, the leaves, root strands and creating the bark-like texture and features.
Yarn used is the Red Heart Super Saver. Needles - US #5.
I MOST DEFINITELY suffer from Artistic Attention Deficit Disorder. I am almost done with the sweater I am knitting but put it on hold to finally make this guy. I have really wanted to make him for a long time. Past couple days I have been in a waiting area of some kind or another and wanted a small project to knit, (instead of dragging around what is now an almost complete sweater). This was a nice, small project to keep me busy and after seeing Guardian of the Galaxy with my older daughter, I thought this was finally the time to try my own root-person!
