Matching Handmade Ditty (Diddy) Bag

Ditty or Duddy -- guess it depends on where you live (or your spell checker's preference)!

Really don't ;like it when small things are loose at the bottom of my handbags and I have to fish around for items. So to help keep those little things together, I made a ditty bag to hold it together.

Ahhhh, organization.

Von Trapp Style Handmade Blue Handbag Tote

This is very old fabric I found among things I received, when my uncle died. The fabric was once long curtains my grandmother hung. Last year, I made a cute little blazer (get lots of compliments) with the fabric and now I made the matching bag. Now you can see why it's the Von Trapp style.

Jacket is just the old blue floral fabric, unlined. (Subsequent jackets I've made are lined. One is lined and has fiber in between the jacket and lining, for additional warmth). This blazer has a dark blue zipper, up the front.

The bottom of the bag is made with 100% cotton blue fabric and the top is also made with 100% cotton fabric. Inside lining is constructed with a lighter blue 100% cotton fabric and a dark blue zipper.

Very stout and stands on it's own (not stuffed with tissue for the photograph).

The bag is larger than the previous post. This one is 11 1/2" x 17" width, 10" tall and 6" deep (at the bottom).

Pink Bag, Better Version!

Pink Bag To Celebrate!

This is to celebrate my tennis team (The Pink Panthers) advancing to districts. again!!! In honor of this achievement I made a tote bag!

Wish us luck, starting August 7th!!!!!

The bag lining is a cute pink cotton fabric with white dots. Really compliments the outside of the bag, well.

To place the zipper, I looked at a hUgE LL Bean bag for a reference, to see how their zipper was inserted. I then inserted my zipper the same way. Although it turned out well and as I wanted it, I am not pleased. Thought it would be a nice finishing touch but think next time I'll just place a zipper directly on the bag.

Knowing the bag was for me, I also was a little cheap in a couple of areas:
- Because I saved a nice big section of pink doted fabric (lining) for another bag, I had to sew two pieces together (creating a center seam) to make this bag's lining. Really doesn't look too terrible and would definitely do that again.

- I was also cheap with the stabilizer when constructing the handles and they are a bit too flimsy. Definitely an area where I will never skimp again! LOL!
