Aug! Record Low Temps Tonight.

I really didn't mind this winter's snow. It's the cold that's been brutal. When I looked at the temp at 5:30am this morning, it was -1°F. Tonight, the temps are going to be -4°F. The North Country is going to be in the 20s below zero YIKES!!!

It's so unseasonably cold, wood pellets are sold out everywhere and because of the late season, places are not reordering. The same goes with cord wood, no one has seasoned available and now the wood stove in the family room is burning wood bricks (which are also cleaner, greener and more expensive).

The good news is, Friday and Saturday it will be in the high 30s and 40s; it will feel like Spring! Daylight savings ends this weekend, too! Yippee! Always a HUGE Silver Cloud behind the Grey Lining (all one needs is a green patch of grass and to keep looking up)!

Thank you for visiting. Hope you come again!

Hampton Beach

Do love going to the beach in the winter. It's such a different place. So, this past Saturday we went to Hampton Beach to see it all shut down.

What a difference just a couple months make. Not the same spot on the street, but you can see how quiet it was.

Laura took the next couple of pics.

Love the natural water tracks and the dog track at the very bottom! So random. Laura recorded some interesting images. She really does have an artistic eye and appreciation for the things around her.

Thank you for visiting. Hope you come again!

Ice Sickles, Indeed!

A few days ago, my daughter was out enjoying the snow squall when she took this picture.

Needless to say, I was whacking at ice sickles with a broom, from windows, very soon after (high-tech New England method).

Could you imagine the damage those cold, sharp things could do if they fell? (I'm already fearful of the damage they've done to the roof, with all the expanding and contracting. Or should I say, "I don't want to know"... )

Thank you for visiting. Hope you came again!

American Idol Contestant

Wishing Alex Philbrick Preston the best of luck as he moves forward!!!!

Alex graduated from Souhegan High School in Amherst, NH, in 2011 and it's so exciting to watch his progress on American Idol.

He's a nice guy. Tuesday afternoon (of last week), he came home and did an "Impromptu Gig" at SHS. That was super fun for the kids.

Keepin' the fingers crossed.

Thank you for visiting. Hope you came again!

Ripping My Heart Out....

I can't tell you how many times, but the result is worth it!

Finally, the back is done. Not following a pattern for this one. I wanted to use the heart pattern and basically put some good cable pattern panels around the heart's panel.

I love hearts. Hearts of any kind. Some are drawn to Angels and figures of them, I am drawn to hearts (and roses)...
...I also am very interested the Queen of Hearts - yes, the playing card (playing cards in general, for they relate greatly to so much more than just games). The Queen of Hearts card is based on Queen Elizabeth of York; born on the 11th of February and died at the young age of 37, on the 11th of February (go figure, my birthday!). There is a great deal about her and her Tudor family I find fascinating. Aaah, to be loved so much as Queen Elizabeth was, by King Henry VII (a marriage starting off as a political arranged).
...Also the suit of hearts represents Spring. My favorite time of year because my gardens begin to come alive. I eagerly await each plant and their time! It is also when the cold is gone and all warms up again.
... Each suit represents the stages of life. Hearts correspond with childhood - Spring season, the element Fire, the Youth and Love. Hearts represent early association with family and friends, first love. As a Fire, Hearts are able to sacrifice for country, family, friend, cause. Hearts rule art, music, poetry, any pursuit of beauty in any form. (The Seven Reflections)
OH, Hearts. Sadly, I have been told I am the Ace of Spades....

Here are some more interesting --}factoids--{ about cards and their various meanings! Should check it out.

Thank you for visiting. Hope you came again!

Ummm, Ummm, Good!

With both daughters off doing their own thing all day, there was lots of time to make turkey soup with the remaining leftovers from a big dinner we had on Friday night.

Boy, there is no better way to fill a quiet house then with good music and good kitchen smells. I love cooking and it's all worth it each time my daughters tell me I should open my own restaurant (I know they are saying that in appreciation - they're great kids).

Thank you for visiting. Hope you came again!
