Nursery Spider

This creepy little guy was on my basement's outside slider, just mellowing out.

Totally unaggressive and wanted no trouble. Definitely don't want to piss him off... this type of spider has a nasty bite that leaves a gross wound!

Not normally from this region, but seems to not mind this climate.

Wonderful!

Peony bushes are in bloom, Some of the bushes are just finishing up and some are just getting started.

Their fragrances range from rose to citrus to almost a tea.

Gardening amongst these beauties was wonderful, as their fragrance swirled around me and I listened to Lana Del Rey's new release; Ultraviolence, on my iPhone. What a nice couple days it's been, outside.

Great World Cup game last night! I wish I could have watched. The fantastic highlights on the morning news is good enough!!! Way to go - Sub to Superhero! Go 21 year old benchwarmer.

First Garden Pics

Usually I post the very first flower to appear in the gardens, but I was so sick then and missed the chance. These are my very first pics of the gardens, after a few flowers have bloomed.

"The Book and the Rose"

A 2001 movie, which I'd not heard of. However, I think it's easily earned a place in my "All Time Favorites" category!!!

Came across it and had no idea what it was about but lately movies from the 30s and 40s have been interesting and when we saw the era of this movie, the girls and I decided to give it a try - so glad we watched.

It really IS a Feel Great movie!!!

Not at all like the "Boy in the Striped Pajamas", now that was a movie that is not with a happy ending, but gets a huge recommendation from me, as well.

Some More Knitted Baby Items

Along with the vintage sweaters, I love to knit matching booties and hats. Here are some booties I recently finished (while the weather was so rainy... now I only have time to catch up in the gardens!)

The pattern book is by Val Pierce; 20 To Make Baby Bootees. I found my copy in Michaels but I am sure there are copies on Amazon, too.

Easy to follow patterns! I converted these into a circular needle version, because I am not a huge fan of seams and try to eliminate them, when possible.

I highly recommend this book. Val Pierce gives several different bootie designs and a couple are really adorable!
