Nor'Easter Dumped 12+"
(Taken evening of October 29th, before sun went down and the power went out.)
Lost some really nice landscaping and some well grown hydrangea branches. Sadly, a lot of branches fell around the yard from the huge pines and even took out some wires. Hearing the cracking in the woods all around, was a bit scary; allowing for little sleep.
AND THE SKY DURING THE HEIGHT.... wow, I have never seen anything like it and there's been no mention on the news; it was like the world was lit by a huge, flickering candle. The sky was brightly lit, making it seem more like the morning's early hours. (Transformers on the poles arcing?)
Went store trolling and nothing was open except Target. Gotta love them, 1/2 power and still rolling. All the freezers were taped off, but otherwise everything was "good to go"! So it was a Campbell's Soup night (everyone ate the crock pot fixings the night before).
Thankfully the power-outage wasn't too bad. Went out over-night and came back on in the late evening on October 30th. However, that caused a huge problem at the transformer that feeds us and not too long after it knocked out our power again (for the second night). What time we did spend without the power was spent with a generator; hooked up to run the whole house including internet and tv (aaahhhh!). No suffering like the old days, huh?
Thanks for checking in and seeing how we survived the weather (sadly better than the old days)!

Part of the One Percent and Unhappy With All The Unhappy?
Then why are you still the One Percent? Doesn't God help those whom help themselves? Give 65% of your percent and you will fell more than 1/2 better.

Snow Before Halloween
Unbelievable that we will have had 2 rounds of snow before my girls even Trick Or Treated around the village, for Halloween! Hopefully, there will be no snow drifts to hurtle in between houses.

Snow?!!?
Well, who cares! We just bought our first snow blower!
No more shoveling a 40+ foot driveway by hand for us (not by my choice...). This year I was DEFINITELY striking (started showing signs of picketing, last year). Think that's why the snow blower is in the garage this year.

Whatta Relief!
Hi all!
Got our tests back today and I got an 88% on the lecture exam and a 98% on the lab practical.
YiPpEe!

Test Results Come Back Today
Man, I hope I did well on both tests. Even if it's the same grade as the last time... The Lab Practical is usually easier than the exam so I think I did ok on that.
Keep your fingers crossed for the lecture exam results.

One Of The Best Quotes....
From Practical Magic:
Always throw spilt salt over your left shoulder, keep rosemary by your garden gate, plant lavender for luck, and fall in love whenever you can.

Had a Great Time
Oh it was so good to go back to Holliston and visiting good friends. It's been so long. The Murphy family looked good and showed us such a great time.
"Thank you Jeanne, John and family!"
And here's the wonderful plant she grew from a cutting. See the adorable note she wrote for me on the side of the pot?!!? Hard to believe this late in the season, but it has it's first bud starting. Hope since I am keeping it indoors it continues to grow the bud into a flower.

Please People Be More Careful
This was posted on FB by a friend of mine and is worth reposting...
Whenever you buy a 6-pack, please cut the rings. Whoever caused this probably wasn't aware so please spread the word. If everyone does something small, we can make our planet a better place.
Thanks to Marian Fisher, Carol Alban Flutist and Kelley MacDonald for being the original posters!

My daughter's Sea Floor
Done! What a memory builder! My husband and daughter went down to the culdasac to grab some sand in the pouring rain. They didn't get much but had such fun together!
The project turned out well. She's psyched to turn it in.

Another Day Of Tests
Well...........
Think I did almost as well on the lecture exam lab practical as I did last testing week.
The lecture exam started an hour before the actual class (that much material). Yikes! Not sure how early final exam will start!
The lab practical was really fun. The professor sets up stations with various models with flags on them. We go to each station and name (label) each flag on our answer sheet. Hilarious tripping over each other, waiting for the station, feeling the tension in the air, and watching the thinking.....
This time we covered and were tested on all the muscles, tissues, cartilage, brain, eye, ear, disorders and diseases relating to each of the mention (including seizures--that part wasn't fun reliving) and a lot of nerves and nervous system. Wow people, I am not studying to be a nurse! Last 3 weeks, spent lots of time in the college's library (WHAT?!!?) and studied lots of plastic body parts. Today we had 3 hours between tests so we grouped up with a few friends and CRAMMED some more!
Found out there are a lot of people doing a lot worst in these classes. Sadly, they are blaming the teacher. That's not particularly fair. She grades fairly and covers the material. She has GREAT stories and her tests are multiple choice (no grabbing the answer out of thin air and holy moly -- no spelling to remember!!!!!!!! I have enough trouble remembering how to spell "Seminiferous Tubules", forget during a test).
To be honest I AM LOVING EVERY MINUTE. I am so glad for this opportunity! Now that things are easier at home and I have a lot more free time it's a thrill to be learning again.
Well, thank you for stopping! Hope you check in sometime next week (when she might have the tests graded).
PS
Now off to make a paper mache version of the bottom of the sea for a class project.

Another Visit From Mother-In-Law
I think it's nice that we get these short-term visits from my mother-in-law every few weeks.
She'll be moving in with us, soon (next summer is the tentative deadline) and when that happens, we will already have her incorporated in our daily routine. She is happy that when it's too hot in Florida for her to stay, she has a place where she's welcomed and a "Part of something", as she put it.
We will definitely reap many bonuses having her. She was the oldest of 8 children so she can cook like there's no tomorrow and I LOVE that! She also raised 5 children of her own so she knows her way around a sewing machine and has creative solutions for most things!
Teehee, she thinks she's lucky to have us... shhhh!

Victory Park -- Occupied.
"Occupy Wall Street" has spread to NH! They are calling it Occupy New Hampshire. Interesting to see what's going to happen next. (Wonder what really can happen next? What exactly can Wall Street do?)

Great Day With The Girls
Really had a nice day with my daughters today. We cleaned for their grandmother's visit but for some reason, it didn't feel like the old tired chore it's usually like!
Days such as today will be memories I will always cherish. Thank ladies!

Happy Birthday, Uncle Jim
I feel like I just lost you yesterday and not 8 years ago. (You so easily and readily slipped into my father's role when your brother died... and have left an equally painful void in my heart, when you too died.)
More Pictures of the Air Plant's Flower
Really lasting longer than I thought the flower would. Have been taking pics nearly every day but the flower has only grown a little longer and not much different looking.
I love the purple next to the hot pink. If you look closely, you can see orange on the white. Nature really knows her palette of colors!
Unlike other plants, the plant's flowers are more like an announcement; if all goes well, in 2 months there will to be pups (usually about 8). However, these flowers are not the plant's fruit. Instead, the plant sends out pups from the bottom, much like succulents. When the pups are nearly as large as the mother, that's when they can be removed and shared with other air plant lovers! (Let me know if you are one).
Glad you came to see the air plant's progress! Please visit again.

Air Plant (Airplant) Flower!
Hi!
Not sure which is the proper way to spell these plants. No matter, I love them just the same. (However, I will spell it with a space because my spell check likes that better.)
One of my air plants is actually flowering! What a fun time. If all goes well, I'll have pups in a month or two! Before that happens, I will move the plant to a more spacious place so she has lots of room to propagate.
I'll keep taking pictures as her flower keeps growing.

Goodbye Steve Jobs
We ALL are going to suffer a great loss without Steve Jobs. He has revolutionized our lives beyond image.
Thank you Steve. I learned on your computer sooo long ago and have used your productions ever since.

Protective Eye
Hello again!
Think I need a little help seeing this biology thing through!!!! It's a protective eye (or as some call it "Evil Eye"). Maybe it will see definitions and model flags which I miss!
The green, 16mm glass doll's eye is even more beautiful in person. I have received so many compliments already and I made it just last Friday!!!
